The San Antonio Spurs secured a spot in the 2026 NBA Finals by upsetting the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-3 in the Western Conference Finals, moving onto the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014!
After winning five championships in only 15 years, the Spurs missed the postseason for seven straight seasons before getting back to the playoffs this year — and now returning to the NBA Finals.
San Antonio has one of the league's youngest cores, led by 2026 NBA Defensive Player of the Year and former No. 1 overall draft pick Victor Wembanyama, alongside Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper.
In addition to having a truly dominant defense behind Wembanyama's presence, the Spurs have a skilled offense as well with De'Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson also playing at a high level.
The Spurs will now advance to face the New York Knicks in a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals and the 2025 NBA Cup Final. New York beat San Antonio 124-113 to win the NBA Cup in December.
