NBA: Stephen Curry is in prime position to enter top-10 of all-time

Stephen Curry’s legendary career has been a big topic in these NBA Finals. Curry is widely known as the greatest shooter to ever play the game. However, he has proven that his game is so much more than just being a great shooter. In the 2022 Finals, Curry is proving to pundits that in fact he is that dude and seems to be making a statement to everyone that his success isn’t a fluke. Many people believe Curry is on the cusp of becoming a top-10 player of all-time with another title.

Curry has already solidified himself as an all-time great but could he really jump into the top-10 with a title and Finals MVP? Yes. For better or worse, Curry is playing with house money in this series. Boston is clearly the better team along with the top ranked defense in all of basketball. If he can overcome the Celtics, Curry will be do something that Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jimmy Butler couldn't do this year.

Making the case for Curry:

His resume speaks for itself. 3-time NBA champion, 2-time MVP (the only unanimous ever), 8-time All-Star, 4-time First Team, all-time 3-point leader, and the accolades go on and on. Curry has one of the highest scoring averages (26.5) in Finals history. In fact, Curry has a higher Finals average than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan and Dwayne Wade. With a victory, he will be only one of six players that has four championships and multiple MVPs.

How would the top-10 look with Curry in? His career has been one for the ages. It’s so difficult to replace one great with another but his resume would definitely be top-10 worthy if he were to accomplish these things. Although, Curry has some major flaws on his resume, it’s still too good to deny. I believe with another championship and his first Finals MVP, he would be moved from his current position at 11th into the top-10.

Top-10 players of all-time:

1. Michael Jordan

2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

3. LeBron James

4. Magic Johnson

5. Kobe Bryant

6. Tim Duncan

7. Shaquille O'Neal

8. Bill Russell

9. Wilt Chamberlain

10. Stephen Curry

If the Warriors go onto win the series, I believe Curry would move into the top-10 and replace Larry Bird. Bird had an amazing career, highlighted by three championships, three Finals MVPs and 12 All-Star appearances. However, Curry has three titles, possibly four, and a unanimous MVP. Although, I would be the first to admit that when we’re taking about the 10 best players in NBA history, we have to start nitpicking.
