The No. 3 Michigan Wolverines survived the No. 23 Wisconsin Badgers 68-65 behind an unforgettable game-winning shot by forward Yaxel Lendeborg in the final second to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Tournament title game at the United Center on Saturday.
Wisconsin came back from a 15-point deficit in the second half as forward Austin Rapp caught fire and guard Nick Boyd drilled a game-tying shot in the final minute but Michigan had the last laugh as Lendeborg sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds left.
"This was my first game-winner. This has been the best year of my life. I’ve had so much fun," Lendeborg told the media. Michigan will take on the No. 18 Purdue Boilermakers with an opportunity to win a second consecutive Big Ten Tournament championship.
