Michael Thorbjornsen emerges victorious at 2026 Rocket Classic to clinch first PGA Tour triumph of his career
Michael Thorbjornsen scored a career-best 63 to take home the 2026 Rocket Classic at the Detroit Golf Club on Sunday! Thorbjornsen sank a 29-foot birdie putt to clinch the first PGA Tour triumph of his career.
Despite trailing by four strokes entering the round, Thorbjornsen caught fire and eventually seized control — fending off Xander Schauffele and Davis Riley to emerge victorious with a final score of -18.
“Every bit of success I’ve had here is a family win,” Thorbjornsen told the media, giving credit to his family for helping him become a PGA Tour champion now. Thorbjornsen earned $1.8 million with the win.
The conclusion of the Rocket Classic was bittersweet as the event wrapped up for the eighth and final time. The Rocket Classic has become a staple of the Detroit but it will be moved to a new location in 2027.
