The Miami Redhawks beat the Bowling Green Falcons 93-83 to remain undefeated with an NCAA-best 14-0 record on Tuesday at the Stroh Center! Miami guard Peter Suder (team-high 17 points and eight rebounds) and forward Brant Byers led the way to extend the school-record win streak and stay unbeaten.
Both teams traded punches in the early stages and the game was tied 11-11 before Miami went on a 14-0 run to completely seize momentum. The Redhawks led by as much as 29 points in the opening half, taking a 54-28 lead into halftime and eventually coasting to a 10-point win to secure a 14th straight victory.
Rutgers transfer forward Antwone Woolfolk fueled the first half run for Miami, throwing down a two-handed dunk and connecting on a 3-pointer to help give the Redhawks an early lead. Woolfolk totaled 14 points and three rebounds, while guard Luke Skaljac scored a season-high 15 points at Bowling Green.
The Falcons cut the deficit to 78-69 late in the second half before Suder drilled a dagger 3-pointer to push the lead to double digits and essentially seal the win. Bowling Green forward Sam Towns finished with a game-high 24 points but it wasn't enough to end Miami's historic, undefeated start to the season.
"It's just strength in numbers. We have a lot of good players and I think that showed tonight," Miami head coach Travis Steele said in a postgame interview following the win. "We had a really good first half and we have a really good team. We have been in these situations before so we have no panic."
