1. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs): Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league and might be for years to come. He's one of seven quarterbacks in our top-10 to throw for 4,000+ yards, as well as compiling 26 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Mahomes is also one of the most efficient passers in the league, finishing last year with a 65.9% completion rate, en route to going 12-4 in the regular season and 3-0 in the playoffs.
2. Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks): Wilson gets the slight edge over Lamar Jackson but either could go there. He helped Seattle go 11-5 last season, and he's never had a losing season in the NFL. Wilson threw for 4,110 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also had an impressive 66.1% completion rate. I think the Seahawks need to rely even more on their star quarterback as Wilson has become one of the best players in the league.
3. Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens): Jackson, the most recent league MVP, is heading into his third season and will have a chance to climb even higher on this list in the next couple of years. He took Baltimore from a 9-7 team to Super Bowl contenders, and they should remain that way for the foreseeable future. Jackson threw for 3,127 yards, 36 scores, and six interceptions on 66.1% passing. The Ravens finished with a NFL-best 14-2 record in 2019.
4. Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints): Brees missed five games a year ago, which brought his statistics down a bit, but he is still one of the best and most efficient throwers the league has even seen. He's the only quarterback in our top-10 who completed more than 70% of his passes, coming in at 74.3%, to go along with 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Even at 41-years-old, he can help lead the Saints to another 13-3 season.
5. Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys): Prescott is probably lower than Aaron Rodgers and Carson Wentz on other lists, but we have the Cowboys quarterback ranked in the top-five following a 4,902-yard season. He also threw 30 touchdowns, which is third among quarterbacks in the top-10, and 11 interceptions on 65.1% passing. Dak could have another MVP caliber season if the Cowboys can win a few more games, but they have to pay him first.
6. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers): Rodgers is still an incredibly talented player but he started to show his age in a few losses against the San Francisco 49ers. With that said, if his offensive line protects him a little better this year, he could lead his team to another NFC title game appearance. Rodgers threw for 4,0002 yards last year, and he should stay in that range this year too. He also had 26 touchdowns, only four picks, and a 62.0% completion rate.
7. Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles): Wentz has struggled to stay healthy in the postseason but he has been one of the most consistent regular season quarterbacks in recent years and should continue that next season. The 6'5 signal caller had very similar numbers to Mahomes with 4,039 yards and 27 touchdowns, but he threw two more interceptions and completed 63.9% of his passes. Wentz and the Eagles will look to improve on a 9-7 season.
8. Deshaun Watson (Houston Texans): Watson and Wentz are probably just a couple of seasons from competing for a spot in the top-five, but that's only if their organizations can give them enough weapons. Watson lost his best target in DeAndre Hopkins, but maybe he and David Johnson will gel immediately. The former Clemson QB went 10-6 in 2019, throwing for 3,852 yards, 26 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 67.3% completion rate.
9. Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Brady isn't as good as he used to be but he still has some left in the tank and the Buccaneers are trying to surround him with as many weapons as possible. The former Patriots quarterback went 12-4 a year ago, throwing for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight picks. Brady needs to improve his efficiency (60.8%) but he should be able to do that in his first season in Tampa Bay.
10. Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams): Goff was our pick for the final spot in the top-10 but anyone from 9-16 is pretty interchangeable. He barely beat out guys like Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, Matt Ryan, Jimmy Garoppolo, and a few others, but they all have consistent issues. Last year, Goff's problem was creating big plays and interceptions (16). He did have 4,638 yards, 22 touchdowns, and a 62.9% completion rate, which is all good enough for now.
