MLB: Predicting championship series
#2 New York Yankees (103-59, 3-0) @ #1 Houston Astros (107-55, 3-2): We have all been waiting for this one. The winner of this series will be favored to win the championship, no matter the opponent. In Game 1, the Yankees jumped all over Zack Greinke. Gleyber Torres (90 RBI, 38 HR) knocked in rive runs in the 7-0 win and Aaron Judge (.272 BA, 27 HR) added a pair of hits. Game 2 went Houston's way, though, as Justin Verlander (21-6, 2.58 ERA) continued his Cy Young pace. He allowed five hits over 6.2 innings and struck out seven batters. Carlos Correa (.279 BA, 21 HR) saved the day for Houston as he hit the walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to tie the series. The Astros will get Gerrit Cole on the mound versus Luis Severino.

#4 Washington Nationals (93-69, 4-2) @ #3 St. Louis Cardinals (91-71, 3-2): The Nationals came into the series as the #4 seed in the National League but after two games in St. Louis, they certainly look like the favorites. Anibal Sanchez and Max Scherzer (11-7, 2.92 ERA) were dominant in their wins, combining to give up zero earned runs, and the offense did just enough behind the surprising bats of Adam Eaton (.279, 15 HR) and Michael Taylor. Game 3 puts Stephen Strasburg up against the Cardinals’ ace Jack Flaherty (11-8, 2.75 ERA). St. Louis needs their offense to wake up on the road and guys like Paul Goldschmidt (97 RBI, 34 HR) and Marcell Ozuna will be expected to do so. If Washington wins Game 3, you can book their trip to the World Series. If not, the series is once again up in the air.
