MLB: Yankees Add Britton & Happ
The New York Yankees have traded for a pair of former MLB All-Stars in Zach Britton and J.A. Happ. Both of them are coming over from fellow AL East rivals, as Britton joins the Yankees after eight seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. Happ spent the last three years with the Toronto Blue Jays. New York has one of the best teams in the entire league and it's no surprise that they're buyers at the deadline. In fact, they may have done enough to propel them to the World Series according to some people. Despite being in second place, only because of how dominant the Boston Red Sox have been, the Yankees have enough talent to win it all. And the rich only got richer as they traded prospects, including Dillon Tate, for the two pitchers.
Britton, one of the top closers in the MLB, has a career record of 30-22, with an ERA of 3.22. He also has 139 saves and 426 strikeouts to his name. He is a two-time All-Star, as he made appearances in 2015 and 2016. He was also named the AL Reliever of the Year in 2016 and led the American League in saves that same year. Happ, on the other hand, will boost the Yankees' starting rotation. He hasn't had as good of a career as Britton, but as of late, Happ seems to be hitting his stride. He made his first All-Star appearance this season, a decade after winning the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies. Happ has bounced around the league since making his debut in 2007, but his 103-82 record and career 3.94 ERA is pretty impressive.
