CFB: Saquo-verrated

To say that Bryce Love doesn't deserve the Heisman right now, would be barking up the wrong tree to me. As of right now, according to many such as ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, and USA Today, Saquon Barkley is the most deserving player for the Heisman. Now Barkley, does play for the second best team in football right now, with Penn State being 6-0, and has been the best player on the team. While Love, has been the best player on his solid 5-2 Stanford team. But when you look at the numbers, the Heisman race isn't really even close.

Despite what the popular belief is, the Heisman is not always given to a player an a great team. This was shown last year with Lamar Jackson winning despite playing for Louisville, a predominantly basketball school. So throw that argument out the window and look at the actual numbers of the contending players. Love has 1,387 yards with a 10.3 average yards per carry, and 11 touchdowns. Keep in mind, it takes 10 yards to get a first down so he averages more than a first down per carry.

Now the "front runner" Barkley, averages 6.4 yards per carry with 649 yards on the ground, and six touchdowns. Love is clearly the better player and has, in my opinion, faced better defenses and competition than Barkley who is 21st in rushing in the country. The voters in recent years have gotten it wrong with Robert Griffin III and Derrick Henry with awarding them the Heisman. As a message to the voters: If Love and Barkley continue to have the seasons they're having so far, do not rob the most deserving player of the award - which is clearly Bryce Love.
