CFB: Who Are the Top-5 Mascots?

Mascots are a quirky, fun cheerleader on the sideline. Some teams have them and are very proud to, like Notre Dame. Others simply just don't want them, like Michigan. Some mascots are great additions to the team and others are just overly annoying and really do not make much sense. Here, college football's top-5 mascots will be ranked with factors of appearance and backstory.

5. Traveler (USC Trojans) - Traveler is a trojan warrior with a sword riding a majestic horse. That's a pretty awesome addition to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Introduced in 1961, Traveler IX is the latest member of the family

4. Albert and Alberta (Florida Gators) - Two costumed gators represent this school. This star couple was introduced in 1984. Albert came first in 1970, having replaced a live gator subsequently finding a lover 14-years later when Alberta was introduced.

3. UGA (Georgia Bulldogs) - A real life little bull dog dons the Georgia red. Named after the University of Georgia's (UGA) nickname, UGA has been a favorite since it was first introduced in 1956. Being one of the more rare live mascots, we are now on UGA X who is a descendant of UGA IX. Perhaps the most notable was UGA V, who bit an Auburn player during a game.

2. Brutus Buckeye (Ohio State Buckeyes) - Originally introduced in 1965, Brutus has been a timeless joy to watch on the sideline for Buckeyes fans. He is worn by both men and women and has appeared in numerous commercials. Brutus has a skinny body and large head which is a Buckeye a.k.a., a hairless nut

1. Stanford Tree (Stanford Cardinal) - The goofy smiled, wide eyed tree looks like something accidentally made in an elementary school costume contest. But that is what makes it so beautiful. The craziness look of this mascot represents the Stanford band. It has become the unofficial mascot of the University of Stanford. It was introduced in 1975 and since has been apart of numerous comical fights.
