Washington Wizards select AJ Dybantsa with No. 1 overall pick in 2026 NBA Draft

The Washington Wizards have selected BYU Cougars forward AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft! Dybantsa led the nation with 25.5 points per game In his freshman season at BYU, and now joins storied company as the top pick.


Washington had the No. 1 pick for the first time since 2010, and the Wizards decided to pair Dybantsa with All-Star tandem Trae Young and Anthony Davis, alongside a talented young core including Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George.


The 6-foot-9, 217-pound forward was the most prolific scorer in the country this season and was considered the top player in the draft class due to his blend of athleticism, shot-making and quickness. Now, we get to see him take his talents to the nation's capital.
