Michigan Wolverines head coach Dusty May shocked the college basketball world by departing for the NBA and agreeing to be the Dallas Mavericks head coach, just months after winning a national championship.
May has experienced a meteoric rise in recent years, culminating in leading Michigan to a national title for the first time in nearly four decades, but now he's on the move again as he takes over the Mavericks.
The Wolverines went 64-13 in two years under May, including a school record-setting 36-3 mark in 2026. May solidified himself as one of the nation's top head coaches and it was enough to land him in Dallas.
It certainly came as a surprise as May was expected to sign a contract extension with Michigan, before he made the leap to the NBA and will now coach the Mavericks led by Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg.
