The four teams are set; the four we all wanted and expected are ready to battle it out in just over three weeks. No. 1 Clemson will take on No. 4 Oklahoma. The two teams faced off last year in the postseason, seeing Clemson win 40-6 in the Russell Athletic Bowl. In the other National Semifinal, No. 2 Alabama takes on No. 3 Michigan State. They played last during the 2010-11 season in the Capital One Bowl. The Crimson Tide ran away with a victory.
Do not expect the games on New Year's Eve to be blowouts, though. Expect close games and solid football, both single digit margins in my opinion. As for other New Year's Six games, there are some extremely attractive matchups.
Blue bloods: Ohio State and Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. Run, run, and run: Iowa vs. Stanford in a classic Big Ten vs. PAC-12 Rose Bowl. Revenge: Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State, the Rebels will try and get back at the Big 12 for last years bowl loss when these teams square off in the Sugar Bowl. David vs. Goliath: Group of Five leader Houston will take on annual powerhouse Florida State in the Peach Bowl.
All six games will lead up to a National Championship game. Also, these are just the beginning of the bowls. There are 34 other matchups that will keep you entertained until it all comes to a close on January 12th. Check out my predictions below:
Oklahoma 28, Clemson 35. Michigan State 21, Alabama 20. Notre Dame 17, Ohio State 30. Stanford 28, Iowa 14. Oklahoma State 20, Ole Miss 34. Houston 20, Florida State 24.
