The Miami Redhawks were on the verge of reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007 last season, before suffering a last-second 76-74 loss to the Akron Zips in the MAC Tournament title game but that difficult letdown has only fueled their fire.
After surrendering a double-digit lead and falling just short of winning a championship, Miami came back even better and more focused this year, and is one of just three teams in the NCAA to still be unbeaten with a historic, unblemished 18-0 record this season.
Miami is using that disappointment and heartbreak from 2025 to fuel an unbelievable start to this season, shattering a school-record with an 18-0 record and a 25-game win streak at home – looking like they’re destined to finish what they fell short of a year ago.
“The MAC championship has always been the goal,” Miami forward Antwone Woolfolk told the media. “Coach Steele is putting it into our heads that even when we win a game, we’re still focused on the MAC championship. Day in and day out, that’s the goal.”
