The Miami Redhawks outlasted the Buffalo Bulls in an overtime thriller 105-102 to stay unbeaten with a 19-0 record behind Peter Suder's season-high 37 points, highlighted by a game-winning jumper with just 1.5 seconds remaining at Millett Hall on Saturday!
It appeared the Redhawks were going to suffer their first loss of the season and have their school-record 25-game win streak at home snapped, trailing 88-85 in the final seconds of regulation, until Eian Elmer hit a game-tying 3-pointer to improbably force overtime.
Miami was fueled by five double-figure scorers as Antwone Woolfolk (12 points and 11 rebounds) and Luke Skaljac (18 points and 10 assists) led the way alongside Suder and Elmer. The Redhawks moved to 19-0 and 7-0 in MAC play with the last-second win.
Buffalo was just one stop away from pulling off their biggest win of the season as Daniel Freitag (22 points and eight assists) and Angelo Brizzi (24 points and three rebounds) powered their offense, but Suder's clutch performance was just too much to overcome.
Despite having the unbeaten season in jeopardy and trailing in the final seconds, Miami found a way to win. “I gotta give all my guys the credit. When we hit adversity, that’s just when we get tighter as a team. That’s why we’re so good," Suder told the media.
