PGA: 2020 British Open called off


According to multiple reports, the 2020 British Open has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The British Open is one of golf's four major events, alongside the PGA Championship, The Masters, and U.S. Open. The Masters, which was originally supposed to be played this coming week, has been moved to November 12-15. Meanwhile, the PGA Championship and U.S. Open have been moved to August and September, respectively. The 2020 British Open was the 149th tournament, and was scheduled to begin on July 16, 2020 at Royal St. George's Golf Club in Sandwich, England. Shane Lowry is the defending champion and will remain so for at least another year. According to the Official World Golf Rankings, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, and Brooks Koepka are the top-three golfers in the world.
