NBA: Lakers Land Anthony Davis
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired six-time All-Star Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in return for Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, the No. 4 overall pick, and two other draft picks. Davis requested a trade earlier in the year and there were months of speculation tying him to the Lakers, but they were unable to acquire him before the trade deadline. Just a few months later, though, he's going to play alongside LeBron James. It was reported earlier in the week that the Lakers desperately wanted to avoid getting rid of Kyle Kuzma and they were able to do just that. Davis, who averaged 25.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, will be a free agent next summer. As for the Pelicans, their rebuild is officially underway, but they now have a ton of young talent. Ball averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 assists.
