NBA: Lakers Want Another Lottery Pick
Magic Johnson has been active since joining the Los Angeles Lakers front office and he is back at it, just ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft. Los Angeles already holds the No. 2 pick and is likely to select either Lonzo Ball or Josh Jackson. In my latest NBA Mock Draft Version 3.0, I have them taking Ball out of UCLA.
According to ESPN‘s Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers have talked to two teams about possibly trading for a top-12 pick. Johnson’s team also has the No. 28 overall selection, which may be up for grabs if they are desperate enough to move up. Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, and D’Angelo Russell are the trade baits, while Brandon Ingram is untouchable. Russell would be the least likely to be traded, but Clarkson and Randle have been on the trading block for over a year. If the Lakers do acquire another lottery pick, they’re reportedly interested in Luke Kennard, Zach Collins, and considering other perimeter players like O.G. Anunoby and Donovan Mitchell. Picks No. 10-12 are held by the Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, and Detroit Pistons, respectively, which are possibly the teams in contact with Los Angeles.
