NFL: 2022 Regular season projections, team win totals
After reaching the AFC championship game in 2020, Buffalo should repeat as division champions behind Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Cleveland is expected to take the AFC North with recent defensive additions John Johnson III, Jadeveon Clowney, and Troy Hill. Although Tennessee is only slightly favored to win the division over Indianapolis, I think they're able to create separation after acquiring Julio Jones and Bud Dupree, especially if Carson Wentz misses significant time. Kansas City should once again run away with the AFC West but Los Angeles is likely going to compete for a wild card spot.
AFC East:
1. Bills (13-4)
2. Dolphins (9-8)
3. Patriots (9-8)
4. Jets (5-12)
AFC North:
1. Browns (12-5)
2. Ravens (10-7)
3. Steelers (9-8)
4. Bengals (6-11)
AFC South:
1. Titans (11-6)
2. Colts (9-8)
3. Jaguars (4-13)
4. Texans (3-14)
AFC West:
1. Chiefs (13-4)
2. Chargers (11-6)
3. Broncos (8-9)
4. Raiders (7-10)
Dallas missed the playoffs a year ago after Dak Prescott went down with a season-ending ankle injury. I expect them to get back to the top of the NFC East but it won't be easy to overtake Washington. Green Bay and Tampa Bay are miles ahead of the other three organizations in their divisions, but New Orleans and Atlanta could challenge for a playoff berth. The NFC West remains loaded with three potential Super Bowl contenders and four potential playoff teams. I'm predicting Los Angeles to just edge out Seattle and San Francisco in the division race but the margin is razor thin.
NFC East:
1. Cowboys (11-6)
2. Washington (9-8)
3. Giants (7-10)
4. Eagles (6-11)
NFC North:
1. Packers (11-6)
2. Vikings (9-8)
3. Bears (7-10)
4. Lions (3-14)
NFC South:
1. Buccaneers (12-5)
2. Saints (9-8)
3. Panthers (8-9)
4. Falcons (6-11)
NFC West:
1. Rams (12-5)
2. Seahawks (10-7)
3. 49ers (10-7)
4. Cardinals (9-8)
Kansas City and Buffalo own the two most explosive offenses in the conference and will have a good chance at a rematch in the AFC championship game. Cleveland's defense and running game could propel them into contention, alongside Baltimore and Los Angeles. In the NFC, the Rams are looking to take the next step with Matthew Stafford. Tampa Bay and Green Bay will also likely be fighting for the #1 seed. I'm picking Kansas City to defeat Cleveland for the AFC crown and Green Bay to beat Los Angeles behind Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, followed by the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl over the Packers.
AFC Playoffs:
1. Chiefs (13-4)
2. Bills (13-4)
3. Browns (12-5)
4. Titans (11-6)
5. Chargers (11-6)
6. Ravens (10-7)
7. Steelers (9-8)
NFC Playoffs:
1. Rams (12-5)
2. Buccaneers (12-5)
3. Packers (11-6)
4. Cowboys (11-6)
5. Seahawks (10-7)
6. 49ers (10-7)
7. Saints (9-8)
Championship Predictions:
AFC: Chiefs over Browns
NFC: Packers over Rams
Super Bowl: Chiefs over Packers
