Michigan State Spartans look to continue hot start against Toledo Rockets in 10th all-time meeting between programs

The Michigan State Spartans host the Toledo Rockets in the 10th all-time matchup between the programs at the Breslin Center on Tuesday at 6:30 PM on Peacock! Michigan State is looking to continue their hot start to the regular season, while Toledo is attempting to pull off one of the biggest upsets in program history.
Michigan State opened as 22.5-point favorites over Toledo with the over/under projected at 151.5 total points per FanDuel Sportsbook. The Spartans posses one of the nation’s premier defenses (62.1 points allowed per game), but Toledo’s up-tempo offense (82.6 points per game) could pose a challenge.
Toledo comes into the game with a 5-5 record that is highlighted by previous wins over Detroit Mercy, Troy and Youngstown State. The Rockets are powered by All-MAC guard Sonny Wilson (team-high 16.1 points, 3.6 assists per game), freshman guard Leroy Blyden Jr. and Ohio State transfer center Austin Parks.
Michigan State is currently ranked 9th in the country and enters the matchup with a 9-1 record including wins over Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina. The Spartans are fueled by guard Jeremy Fears Jr. (11.2 points, Big Ten-best 9.7 assists per game), and frontcourt duo Coen Carr and Jaxon Kohler.
The most recent meeting between Michigan State and Toledo occurred in December of 2021 as the Spartans secured an 81-68 win in East Lansing. Michigan State owns a 6-3 all-time record against the Rockets, with the series dating back to 1968, and Toledo's only win this century coming nearly 23 years ago.
