CBB: Makur Maker commits to Howard
Makur Maker, a 5-star big man out of Phoenix, Arizona, committed to Howard University on Friday, July 3 via Twitter. The 6'11 center chose Howard, a Historically Black College and University, over scholarship offers from Alabama, Kentucky, Memphis, Oregon, UCLA, and others. He is the 17th ranked player in the 2021 class according to 247 Sports and is also the younger cousin of Thon Maker, who was drafted 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2016 NBA Draft and traded to the Detroit Pistons last year. The center heads to Howard, who went 4-29 last season, but should improve right away with his addition to the program. Maker will be joining a team coached by former Duke guard Kenny Blakeney, and led by MEAC Rookie of the Year Wayne Bristol Jr. and senior guard Kyle Foster.
