NBA: Troy Weaver named Pistons GM
Detroit Pistons hired general manager Troy Weaver on Thursday, June 18. Weaver has spent the last 16 years in the NBA, including the last 10 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was OKC's assistant general manager from 2010-2018 before being named the vice president of basketball operations for the last two years. Weaver was considered for the Atlanta Hawks' general manager opening three years ago but the Pistons will now be his first GM job. Detroit has gone 0-12 in their last three playoff appearances, and they have not won a playoff game since the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals. The Pistons technically haven't had a general manager since 2018 after Stan Van Gundy was fired more than two years ago, but Weaver fills the void and will look to bring the team back to the postseason.
