NBA: Wes Unseld passes away
Wes Unseld, former Washington Bullets and Washington Wizards center, has passed away at 74-years-old. He spent 13 seasons in the NBA, all with the same franchise, after being drafted #2 overall in the 1968 NBA Draft. He also went onto win league MVP in his rookie season, averaging 13.8 points, 18.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. The 6’7 big man will be remembered as one of the league’s best rebounders as he averaged 10+ rebounds per game in 12 seasons, and averaged 15.0+ rebounds per game in each of his first five years. Unseld won his first and only championship in 1978 as the Bullets defeated the Seattle Supersonics in seven games. He was also named Finals MVP. Unseld averaged 10.8 points and 14.0 rebounds over 984 games before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988.
