NBA: Silver considering new formats

According to multiple reports, including ESPN, NBA commissioner Adam Silver and the league are considering multiple options for a potential playoff return. The league has several choices if they decide to continue the season, including following the NHL's decision and adopting a 24-team playoff format. However, the most popular format change would do away with conference alignment and take the 16 best teams and seed them 1-16. There have also been rumblings of a potential World Cup-style tournament, which would include group stages prior to bracket play. Silver and the rest of the league has a lot of decisions to make in the coming weeks as they decide whether or not the season will resume, where the postseason would take place, how many teams would qualify, and much more.
