MLB: Braves shock Cardinals in playoff thriller

The Atlanta Braves (97-65, 2-1) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (91-71, 1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead as Marcell Ozuna singled and then scored on a sacrifice fly from Matt Carpenter. Adam Wainwright pitched really well all day, giving up only four hits in 7.2 innings pitched. He also had eight strikeouts. Wainwright was pulled in the top of the eighth as the Cardinals were still leading 1-0. In the top of the ninth, the Braves offense finally woke up. Josh Donaldson ripped a double to right field and two batters later, Dansby Swanson brought him around on a double of his own. After tying the game at one apiece, Adam Duvall continued his scorching pace with a two-run double. At one point, the Cardinals had an 89.7% chance of winning before falling 3-1 to the Braves.
