MLB: 2016 Award Projections

As the 2016 MLB campaign comes to a close, let us take a look at some potential award winners.

AL MVP: Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels - CF.

I am not speaking for myself on this one, in Trout’s fifth season in the Big Leagues, he is the best player in baseball. Trout is the hardest out on his team and is an absolute beast on defense. He is batting .318, has 39 home runs, 99 RBI, and an on base percentage of .441.

Runner Up: Mookie Betts, Boston Red Sox.

NL MVP: Kris Bryant, Chicago Cubs - 3B.

Just like Mike Trout, Bryant is a young superstar in the MLB. In 2015, Bryant won NL Rookie of the Year and we knew that he was only going to get better. He is a stud playing third base, and can play a multitude of positions including left field. Kris Bryant carries a batting average of .293, has 39 home runs, 101 RBI and an on base percentage of .387.

Runner Up: Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies.

AL Cy Young: Rick Porcello, Boston Red Sox - SP.

Porcello has had himself a breakout year. He tossed 217 innings so far and leads the MLB in wins with 22. Porcello has an ERA of 3.11, a WHIP of .99 and an impressive 183 strikeouts.

Runner Up: Corey Kluber, Cleveland Indians.

NL Cy Young: Max Scherzer, Washington Nationals - SP.

Scherzer continues to perform above expectations. In 223.1 innings pitched, Scherzer has an ERA of 2.28 and also boasts a WHIP of 1.00, and 277 strikeouts.

Runner Up: Jon Lester, Chicago Cubs.

AL Rookie of the Year: Michael Fulmer, Detroit Tigers - SP.

Fulmer began the year in AAA Toledo but received the call when Shane Greene (moved to the bullpen) took a trip to the DL. Although he has had a bit of a slump, Fulmer has pitched an outstanding season. He has a record of 11-7, an AL-leading ERA of 3.06, 1.12 WHIP and 132 strikeouts all in 159.0 innings pitched.

Runner Up: Tyler Naquin, Cleveland Indians.

NL Rookie of the Year: Corey Seager, Los Angeles Dodgers - SS.

Seager is having an outstanding rookie campaign. He holds a .311 batting average with 26 home runs, 72 RBI, and an on base percentage of .369. He has played in 154 games this season.

Runner Up: Trevor Story, Colorado Rockies.

AL Manager of the Year: Jeff Banister, Texas Rangers.

Banister won the award last year as he led the Rangers to a pennant. This season he has led them to another one, boasting 93 wins.

Runner Up: Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles.

NL Manager of the Year: Joe Maddon, Chicago Cubs.

Maddon won the award in 2015 leading the Cubs to a 97-65 record. This season Chicago has 101 wins, and 5 games left to be played.

Runner Up: Dusty Baker, Washington Nationals.
